The Marnix Busstra Band<\/strong> was founded in 2011 by its name giver, Dutch guitarist and composer Marnix Busstra<\/strong>. Joined by piano talent Rembrandt Frerichs<\/strong>, the ever creative Arnold Dooyeweerd<\/strong> on double bass and the inspirational force of drummer Pieter Bast<\/strong>, Busstra introduces a unique band that will definitely help broaden the jazz horizon.<\/p>\n

Marnix\u2019 compositions are the starting point of the band. He\u2019s been writing music for various bands for years, including his own Buzz Bros Band<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0and the band that induced his international break-through, the Mike Mainieri\/Marnix Busstra Quartet<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Musically, this band is a continuation of a development started by the quartet that Marnix co-leads with the renowned vibraphonist, Mike Mainieri. The result can best be described as lyrical, multifacetted jazz that centers around a profound interplay of the four musicians. The compositions vary from melodic and intimate, to exuberant and witty, to emotional and strained \u2013 and vice versa. And while all members of the band are virtuoso musicians, they will only use their instrumental abilities to strive for magic. Musical magic.<\/p>\n

The first album of the band, ‘Sync Dreams’,<\/a>\u00a0is released by BuzzMusic Records<\/a>\u00a0in 2013, and received amazing reviews<\/a>\u00a0– Midwest Records ‘s Chris Spector wrote: \u00a0\u201c\u2026Busstra simply shows up with a load of killer instrumental music that falls under the jazz spell.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/em>The second album, ‘Firm, fragile, fun<\/strong>‘, is also released by BuzzMusic Records<\/a>, August 2015, and received even better reviews<\/a> – mw3’s Robert Steven Silverstein wrote: “Holland-based guitarist\u00a0Marnix Busstra\u00a0<\/b>is one of the best guitarists on the 21st century Euro-jazz scene.”<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
